New Sign is Up in Williamsburg

Esso Sign in front of Williamsburg shop

Doesn't it look great?

Some people shop for clothes or saltwater taffy while on vacation, but not our boss! The owner Charlie picked up this 75 year-old gas station sign on his way back from the beach at an antique shop. How they fit it in the back of the Jeep, I’m not quite sure. The sign looked rough when the mechanics unloaded it in Williamsburg. The cast-iron had been painted over and over for the better part of a century, so sandblasting all those layers off was quite a chore, but it came out looking great! Fine Signs and Graphics of Williamsburg made the new center piece of the sign, and the lights are period reproductions by Barn Light Electric. Hopefully everyone in Williamsburg will like the sign as much as we do! The next step is having a reproduction of the State Inspection sign from 1935 made. We’ll let you know when we install it.
