AUTO REPAIR SERVICE
Transmission Diagnostics, Service & Repair
Changes in shifting, a warning light or a fluid leak deserve a closer look. American Pride Automotive provides transmission diagnostics, maintenance and repair for drivers in Williamsburg, Yorktown, Toano and Newport News.
Our technicians inspect the symptoms and explain the recommended next step for your vehicle. A fluid service and a mechanical repair address different needs, so we start by understanding the problem.
Start With a Transmission Inspection
Tell our team when the issue happens, whether the vehicle is cold or warm, and any recent maintenance. Transmission concerns can have several causes. Inspection and diagnostic testing help identify whether fluid condition, leaks, controls or internal components need attention.
Transmission Service Based on Your Vehicle
We recommend work based on inspection findings and the vehicle manufacturer’s service requirements. If scheduled fluid maintenance is appropriate, visit our transmission fluid service page for more information.
Transmission Services May Include:
- Transmission performance checks and diagnostics
- Fluid level and condition inspection
- Leak, pan and gasket inspection
- Transmission cooling system inspection
- Manufacturer-specified fluid maintenance
- Repair recommendations based on the findings
Contact your preferred shop to discuss your vehicle, transmission type and service needs.
When to Schedule a Transmission Check
Schedule an inspection when shifting changes or a warning appears. Describe the symptom when booking so the shop can plan the appropriate diagnostic visit.
Symptoms to Discuss With Your Technician
- Delayed, rough or inconsistent shifting
- Slipping or hesitation during acceleration
- Unusual grinding or whining noises
- Transmission or drivetrain warning lights
- A burning smell or visible fluid leak
These symptoms do not identify one specific repair. Our team will inspect the vehicle before recommending service.
Follow Your Vehicle’s Maintenance Schedule
Transmission maintenance intervals depend on the vehicle and transmission type. Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and any requirements for towing or other demanding use. Ask our team to review the schedule and service history for your vehicle.
